Joanna Eaton, MSPH, RD, CDE is an experienced Licensed Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator who specializes in weight loss, diabetes and gluten free living. Joanna believes that health starts with a healthy relationship to food. Joanna creates personalized nutrition solutions to helps her clients achieve their health and wellness goals one bite at a time. While Joanna will give you the information and advice you need to get started, she also provides the support you need to stay on track with your healthy diet and lifestyle goals.
Credentials and Bio:
Joanna earned her Master of Science degree in Public Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, MD, where she specialized in health education and health communication. Joanna earned her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition Science from The Sage Colleges in Troy, NY, and completed her dietetic internship through Albany Medical Center and Sage Graduate School. Joanna is also a Certified Diabetes Educator, and has completed training in Adult Weight Management from the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
In 2017, Joanna was diagnosed with Celiac disease, which requires a strict gluten free diet for life. Whether you have Celiac disease or a gluten intolerance, Joanna knows how hard a gluten free diet can be to follow and will help you navigate and stay healthy on a gluten free diet.
Why work with a Registered Dietitian?
Registered Dietitians are evidence-based practitioners who understand the science behind nutrition and know how to help people change their eating behaviors. Registered Dietitians are required to earn a degree in nutrition science or complete equivalent course work from an accredited university, and then must complete 1200 supervised practice hours before taking a national exam to be considered a Registered Dietitian. Registered Dietitians are also required to maintain state licenses where applicable, and complete 75 continuing education credits every 5 years. Registered Dietitians are nationally recognized experts on nutrition and are held accountable to the ethical and scientific standards which govern their profession.
